Lawn and Garden Domestic Pesticide Dispenser

What can you expect from this program/course?

All Alberta sales outlets selling Domestic Class Lawn and Garden Pesticides must employ a Certified Pesticide Dispenser. Lawn and Garden Pesticide Dispenser Certification ensures that consumers have access to correct information regarding pest control and that someone at each retail outlet has knowledge of pesticide sales regulations and safety requirements. Certificate holders will not be pest control experts, but will be familiar with pesticides, pesticide safety, provincial regulations and provincial reference materials.

Length of Program: The Lawn and Garden Pesticide Dispenser home study course is available at any time throughout the year allowing you to study the course at a time convenient to you in the comfort of your home and to write the certification exam at a location close to home. Online exam proctoring is available with Olds College.

Registrants have up to one year from the date of registration to complete the exam.

Delivery Method: Home study, on-campus group tutorial,  onsite group tutorial, or online group tutorial. Online group tutorials also include online exam proctoring following the tutorial.

Location: Tutorials can be facilitated at your corporate office, online with participants at their own computer, or at Olds College. Home Study packages will be mailed to the company representative and must be distributed to participants at least 1 week prior to the tutorial.

Registration Deadline: Continuous Registration

As of January 2016, Lawn and Garden Pesticide Dispensers holding a certificate issued prior to January 2012 will be required to recertify. Certifications are valid for five (5) calendar years dated on the applicant's birthday.

What will you learn?

The Lawn and Garden Pesticide Dispenser Certification is required for all retail vendors selling Domestic Class (Schedule 3) pesticides must employ a certified Lawn and Garden Pesticide Dispenser. This requirement covers the majority of pesticide products formulated for outdoor residential lawn and garden use. Domestic class pesticides formulated for direct application on people and pets (repellents, flea and tick collars, pet shampoo) or for use inside homes are not regulated by vendor certification requirements.

The objective of Lawn and Garden Pesticide Dispenser certification program is to ensure that consumers have access to appropriate information regarding pest control, and that someone at each retail outlet has knowledge of pesticide sales regulations and safety requirements. Certificate holders will not be pest control experts, but they will be familiar with pesticides, pesticide safety, provincial regulations and provincial reference materials.


Homestudy

The Lawn and Garden Pesticide Dispenser home study course is available at any time throughout the year allowing you to study the course at a time convenient to you in the comfort of your home and to write the certification exam at a location close to home. Registrants have up to one year from the date of registration to complete the exam.


Custom And Onsite Training 

This one-day tutorial is designed to augment the Lawn and Garden Pesticide Dispenser home study course and assist participants as they prepare to write the exam. The certification exam is written at the end of the tutorial. 

It is strongly recommended that you review the Lawn and Garden Pesticide Dispenser Manual prior to attending the tutorial. The manual will be mailed to individuals registering a minimum of two weeks prior to the tutorial. Bring the Manual with you to the tutorial. For registrations received less than two weeks prior to the course, the Lawn and Garden Pesticide Dispenser Manual will be given out at the tutorial.
