The tour, which takes about an hour to complete, features a wide range of sights and sounds. If you’re taking a walk through the park, you’ll see several things, including wetlands, a woodland ecosystem and wildlife.

“I’m very pleased to congratulate Adrian Munro and the Highfield team on establishing this impressive naturalized water treatment system,” said David Fullerton, Director of Applied Research at Olds College Centre for Innovation. “Olds College has been a longtime research partner in examining the potential for this type of water treatment. The result is this interpretive trail that offers educational opportunities to the public.”

Highfield Investment Group, who owns Shuttleworth Conservation Park, began its partnership with Olds College in 2009 by supporting student awards and athletics. Highfield Investment Group’s commitment to environmental sustainability led them to grow that partnership to support wetlands research at Olds College.

“Participation in an environmental project like this is very important to Highfield Investment Group,” said Evan Perry, Development Manager, Highfield Land Management Inc. “As part of the Province of Alberta’s Water for Life strategy, we’re very proud of the work we’ve completed with the research team and students from Olds College. When developing a piece of land, it’s always important to support our communities through education while fostering and developing relationships with local educational institutions. The Shuttleworth Conservation Park and self-guided tour allow us to give back, educate individuals on water re-use and be a catalyst for environmental stewardship.”

Highfield Investment Group earned the prestigious honour of being named the Olds College 2022 Partner of the Year.
