New MOUs Signed with Three International Post-Secondary Institutions

Olds College of Agriculture & Technology is thrilled to announce new Memorandum of Understandings (MOU) with Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA), Tarlac Agriculture University (TAU) in the Philippines and Shinhan University in South Korea. MOUs with international post-secondary institutions help strengthen relationships between the institutions, and encourage cooperation and collaboration at all levels for teaching, learning and research.

Earlier this year, Olds College met with each post-secondary institution to discuss potential collaborations between the schools. A meeting between Kay Lim, International Market Development Manager at Olds College, and VNUA was held with VNUA representatives Tung Nguyen Duc, Associate Professor of Entomology Department, and Huu Nhuan Nguyen, Vice Dean of Economics and Rural Development. The focus of this meeting was to discuss potential exchange opportunities for faculty and students and SEED Scholarships for the following academic year.

Additionally, both Lim and Dennis Beaudoin, Dean of School of Trades & Skills at Olds College, went to Uijeongbu, South Korea to meet with Shinhan University representatives Youngmin Park, Department Chair of Global Hospitality Management, and Daesung Lee, Dean of International Affairs. During their meeting in South Korea, they discussed the development of dual degree programs and certificates for hospitality and tourism, potential faculty exchange and expansion of the MOU to other programs such as business. 

As well, both Lim and Beaudoin met with the Max P. Guillermo, president of TAU, and Susan A. Yap, Governor of Tarlac, in Tarlac City, Philippines to discuss collaboration and scholarships for agriculture-related programming, including the Canada-ASEAN Scholarships and Educational Exchanges for Development.

After successful meetings, VNUA, TAU and Shinhan University have all signed five-year MOUs with Olds College to expand academic, industry and student endeavourswhich include having students take courses at the other institution, hosting graduate students or researchers, developing potential exchange opportunities for students and staff, virtual guest speaking and lecture opportunities, and exploring academic pathways that recognize prior learning.
