General News Cervus Equipment Partners with Olds College Olds College and Cervus Equipment have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate in the operation of the Smart Farm. The five-year agreement will see Cervus  provide John Deere farm equipment and the labour needed to manage the crop and in-field operation for 380 acres of farmland on the Olds College Smart Farm.
General News TD Bank Group Supports Olds College with $250,000 investment in Autonomous Agriculture TD Bank Group has committed $250,000 to Olds College in support of autonomous agriculture education and applied research on the Olds College Smart Farm. The funding will support the continuing operation of the DOT Autonomous Platform  and the development of the Autonomous Agriculture Education Series. 
General News TELUS Agriculture Named Olds College 2021 Partner of the Year On the Olds College Smart Farm, TELUS Agriculture has been testing innovations like security solutions, weather stations, field sensors, and rural connectivity solutions. In the near future, the Smart Farm will provide live testing for TELUS’ 5G network, which has the potential to enable faster, more reliable connections.
General News UFA and Olds College Announce the 2021 Student Pitch Competition Winner United Farmers of Alberta Co-operative Ltd. (“UFA”) together with Olds College are pleased to announce Daniel Stefner, with his pitch for Hopper Bottom Grain Flow Gauge, as the winner of 2021 UFA Student Pitch Competition. A second time participant in the UFA Student Pitch Competition, Stefner is a recent graduate of the Bachelor of Applied Science, majoring in AgriBusiness at Olds College and is from St. Albert, Alberta.

The live-streamed production of A Celebration of Alberta Ag, successfully wrapped up on Friday, April 9, 2021 with over 1200 viewers from all over Alberta, Canada and around the world, including England, Nigeria, the Philippines and New Zealand.

The free two-hour event was live streamed from the Alumni Centre on the Olds College campus, in celebration of Alberta’s agriculture industry and the important role that it plays in our world.

General News Olds College Receives Grant from Bell Let’s Talk Post-Secondary Fund Olds College is one of 123 post-secondary institutions across Canada to receive a $25,000 Kickoff Grant from the Bell Let’s Talk Post-Secondary Fund. This grant will enhance the current online campus health and wellness resources for Olds College students, staff, alumni and the community.
General News Olds College Brewery Will Capture CO2 to Reduce Emissions This project aims to reduce GHG emissions by capturing and reusing CO2  that would otherwise be wasted into the atmosphere. By adding this technology to the brewing process, the goal is to reduce emissions and create a valuable product. This affordable solution will be revenue saving and generating for the small to medium sized craft brewer.

General News Floating Island Technology for Livestock Water Remediation

Olds College researchers are evaluating the economic and environmental benefits of using native wetland plants and floating island technology to remediate feedlot runoff water. This research aims to effectively improve water quality for irrigation or livestock use by removing nutrients, heavy metals, and other contaminants — as well as minimizing the presence of algae blooms. Feedlot operators could access alternative, low-cost options for treating feedlot runoff water while being environmentally sustainable.
