It is a big move to go away to college a couple hours from home, but what about a three day drive away from home, how about a couple provinces away? The decision to move this far from family and friends was difficult, but I looked at it as a new opportunity to open new doors for myself. I knew this large step was in my best interest and that all the people in my life would be just a call away. Once over the idea of leaving family and friends in Ontario to pursue my education, I was able to make the rest of my decisions that I needed to make before coming out west. The first decision was to accept my acceptance into the college.
Following that was my discussion of where to live while going to school. I could apply to residence, the townhouses or rent a local property. Since I had three other friends coming out west with me to school it seem the best fit for us was a townhouse. We could all live together, have our own rooms, and cook our own food. It was an easy decision.

After that was all decided and finalized between the four of us, we began to discuss how we would make the move and what we would bring. We decided to drive out and see the country as we traveled.
Upon arrival we were greeted by some very friendly staff and resident advisors that helped us get situated. They were kind enough to help us move the many boxes into our new homes. Everyone we met here seemed to have our best interest at heart. Our first weekend was organized and filled with many activities to keep us busy.
Once through our first week of classes we decided to spend our first weekend touring the sights of Alberta. We went and saw the mountains in Banff, tour the highways, and just took in the scenery. It was defiantly an excellent move, and I am glad I made the decision to further my education at Olds College in Olds Alberta!
