Being a Turfie…

Turf Grass Management, This program has a variety of course that will help you become the professional you are looking to be. Some of these courses are Irrigation, Turf Management, Design, Soils, Plants, Urban Forestry, Insects, diseases and Integrated Pest Management.

In Irrigation we learn to troubleshoot systems and electrical problems also mechanical problems with sprinklers. We learn how design irrigation systems for a golf course with proper placement of the sprinkler to obtain the best water coverage and to help save on water waste. We also learn software on computer that we will encounter in the field.

Turf Management teaches you the best practices you have to perform to keep your turf healthy and alive, you learn different agricultural programs such as aeration, verti-cutting, topdressing and fertility programs, like fertilizing and control of disease through best practices. You also get to do some design and build a bunker with drainage.

I choose this career path because I love to golf; I love to be out in the fresh warm air in the summer. I chose Olds College Turf Grass Management Program because it is an excellent program and the instructors all have years of related field experience. I enjoy the hands-on training, and the instructors always keep the programs interesting. They keep me inspired to learn more and achieve the most out of the education they have to provide.

I LOVE YOU GEORGE! (Even though college hasn’t taught you grammar and spelling!)
