OLDS, ALBERTA; May 31 2012 –BC All-Star, James Blandford, trades the ocean for prairies to join the Broncos in their inaugural season in the Alberta College Athletics Conference (ACAC).

Blandford is a Stelly’s High School (BC) grad who was selected as the Pacific Western Athletic Association (PACWEST) Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Year for his exceptional athletic abilities. He was a PACWEST 2nd Team All-Star and received a spot on the All-Rookie Team. At 6’6”, Blandford is described as an extraordinary athlete who plays above the rim. For a player of his size and strength, he is an excellent ball defender and a very good defensive rebounder. Blandford played his first year in PACWEST for the Camosun Chargers and will transfer to Olds College for the 2012/2013 season. He will be enrolling in Olds College’s Agricultural Management Production program this fall.

“We are very excited to have James as a Bronco next year,” said Head Coach Sergey Shchepotkin.  “He can play multiple positions, and I think he will fit very well into our system.  Besides helping us out on the court, James will also be an incredible addition to Olds College campus as a student athlete.” The Olds College Broncos begin play in the ACAC and CCAA this fall and can be followed at www.gobroncos.ca.
