According to School of Business Chair Dr. Terry Males, the agreement will help draw people to their business programs, as the University of Lethbridge is already a primary destination for Olds students wishing to continue their studies beyond the two-year term.
“The agreement will provide students the ability to continue their business education and to get full credit for the courses they completed at the College, creating new opportunities for them,” said Males.
Olds College implemented its two-year Business Administration Diploma in September 2008 and graduated its first group of students in June of this year. Current enrolments forecast a graduating class of 20 next year and 40 in the year following.
Students taking advantage of the new transfer agreement will be able to pursue specializations such as accounting, marketing and general management. Loren Coutts, Coordinator of the Business Administration Diploma at Olds is enthusiastic about the newly forged agreement.
“This continues the strong relationship between the University of Lethbridge and Olds College, providing effective undergraduate pathways to a successful career,” said Coutts. “Now, with more room in our program as well as new career avenues offered in conjunction with our diploma, there is even greater career potential for students across the country.”
