Student PASS LEADERS
(Peer Assisted Study Sessions)
Hourly Rate: $14.00
Olds College is seeking Peer Assisted Study Sessions (PASS) for the 2013-2014 school year.
PASS sessions are regularly scheduled study sessions led by a trained PASS Leader. The PASS Leader guides study sessions that focus on reinforcing understanding and facilitating student learning of course content. The course instructor selects the content for the PASS sessions. Students integrate study skills and learning strategies with the course content review, working together under the guidance of the PASS Leader.
The courses selected for PASS support vary from semester to semester, but will include most accounting courses, EQN1000, SOI1000, CHE1020, AGN1340, and PLS1010, at a minimum, for the 2013-2014 school year.
To be selected as a PASS leader, the successful candidate must have quantifiable mastery in the PASS-supported course and have a good working relationship with the course instructor. Ideally, the successful candidate will have demonstrated leadership qualities and be confident in their ability to work within a group setting. The candidate must be willing to complete the PASS Leader training and adhere to the PASS requirements while facilitating. The candidate will report to the Learning Centre Manager, but must be able to work closely with the course instructor, given the collaborative nature of the PASS model. The anticipated time commitment for a PASS Leader supporting one course will be three (3) hours per week.
Please forward a resume quoting competition #12093S. This competition will remain open until suitable candidates have been selected for all areas. Indicate the course you wish to tutor as a PASS Leader (for example, CHE1020) on your application.
