The Master Spinner Program consists of six progressive levels of classroom and independent study involving skill development, research studies and project assignments in the area of hand spinning of all major types of fibers, yarns and the end use of the spun yarns. At all levels, students are evaluated on the basis of written assignments, practical projects, oral presentations and skill development.

Fibre Week 2013 Courses
- All courses run from 9am – 4:30pm with a 1.5 hour lunch break unless otherwise noted.
- If registration demands are such that a second session of a level is offered, the class list will be divided according to the date of registration.
- Students entering level 1 should have a working relationship with a spinning wheel. A Beginner Spinning course is strongly recommended.
- Instructor Biographies can be found on the Meet the Team page
- Materials fees, collected at the time of registration are for fibres, etc supplied by the instructor for use during the class. They are not meant to be of sufficient quantity for homework completion.
Spinning Wheel Rentals
There are 10 NEW wheels available for rent on a first-come basis. Contact Melanie Styba for reservations and make your rental payment when you register. View the rental wheel specifications here.

Level 1 – Instructor: Dora Mushka
Students should have a working relationship with a spinning wheel. The Beginner Spinning course is strongly recommended for those with little or no experience. Students should read the Master Spinner Handbook before attending this class. *NEW* Supply List

Workbook/Homework Marking
As of June 2011, all workbooks must be completed using the latest version of the requirements. If you took your course before Fibre Week June 2010, please contact the Olds College coordinator for a copy of the newest versions.
Please include a copy of the requirements you used when you send your work.
Check with your marker for any special instructions before mailing your work. For Levels 1-5, include a cheque equal to your mailing cost for return postage (payable to the marking instructor). Level 6 will require two postage cheques since there are two markers involved.
When shipping workbooks across the Canada/US border, please label them as ‘Print material. No Value’ and address them to the marker without reference to Olds College. This will ensure timely, cost effective processing.
Marking Fees
Please contact Olds College 1-800-661-6537 ext 7986 or 8319 to pay the Marking Fee by credit card. When you send your homework please include a check for Return Postage payable to the instructor(s).
Levels 1-5: $120 + return postage payable to the instructor.
Level 6: $250 + 2 postage checks; one payable to each marking instructor.
