International Student Admissions
Olds College accepts a limited number of international students into regular Programs of Study each year. Students seeking admission to Olds College should apply at least six months in advance of the semester in which they wish to commence studies.
- Applications will remain pending until ALL required documentation is received.
- Applications are not carried over from one year to the next.
- You must submit a new application form along with all other necessary documentation, each time you apply for admission to Olds College.
- You must meet the specific admission requirements of the program of study, as outlined in each program's fact sheet.

Admission Requirements for International Students
For students from British-oriented educational systems, we will accept the General Certificate of Education (G.C.E.) Ordinary level.
For students from countries whose native language is not English:
- A TOEFL
- paper-based test score of 550 or better, OR
- a computer based test score of 215 or better, OR
- an internet-based test score of 79 or better; OR
- a score of 60 – 90 on the CAEL language assessment.
- Successful completion of two years of full-time study in an English language
secondary institution in Canada including the equivalent of English at the
Grade 11 and 12 levels, with a grade of 50% or better in each;
or - Successful completion of one full year of course work at a Canadian post-secondary institution where English is the language of instruction.
Responsibilities of Accepted International Students
- International students are required to attend on a full-time basis and are not eligible for part-time studies.
- Accepted applicants are responsible for all of their visa, travel and financial arrangements.
- A valid student Visa/Study Permit must be presented on or before Registration
Day. To apply for an authorization you must present to your nearest Canadian
Consulate:
- a valid passport,
- a letter of acceptance from Olds College,
- proof of financial support,
- medical clearance, and
- a letter of reference
- International students who are required to complete work experience relevant to their program must also obtain the appropriate work visa. Further clarification on international student employment may be obtained from Citizenship & Immigration Canada, Canada Immigration Centres.
- Provincial or Federal financial assistance is NOT available to international students at Olds College.
- International students without medical coverage are urged to apply for Alberta Health Care Insurance immediately upon arrival in Alberta. Forms are available from the Health Services department of Olds College.
Visiting International Student Fees
International visiting students pay 1.5 times the fees for instruction plus all other fees associated with their stay at Olds College.
How to apply as an International Student
Complete and submit the Olds College
Application for Admission
form or apply online using our Online Application System.
Submit the following with the application for admission:
- A list of ALL high schools and post-secondary institutions attended (or are currently attending) as well as the dates attended and degrees or diplomas earned. Withholding this information may result in cancellation of the application.
Upon receipt of the application to Olds College, an application for the International Qualification Assessment Service (IQAS) will be forwarded to the applicant. IQAS will provide a complete evaluation of your education relative to the Province of Alberta.
Official transcripts from all high schools and post-secondary institutions attended must be submitted to IQAS for evaluation. Official transcripts must bear original, authorized signatures and the stamp or seal of the institution. If these transcripts are written in a language other than English, the transcripts must be translated and properly notarized by a Public Notary.
Official confirmation of TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language)
results must be sent directly from the TOEFL office to the Olds College
Registrar’s Office.

International degree applicants must follow and meet all the above requirements and procedures. Post-secondary transcripts must be assessed for equivalency to the diploma-level program, major specific. This requires both a Basic Assessment for the high school records and a Detailed Assessment from the IQAS (International Qualifications Assessment Service) for the post-secondary records.
