Housing

Olds College can provide on-campus accommodation for a limited number of international students.  Living on-campus allows students to save valuable time and allows convenient access to classes, faculty, library and the many services provided on-campus.  Living on-campus is also an easy way to make friends and become involved in extracurricular activities.

Frank Grisdale Residence (Dormitory Style Room & Board)

This 450-bed facility also includes

  • Campus Security
  • Student Lounge

Students share a dorm style room with another student.  A few single rooms are available.  Each dorm room includes a bed, desk, chair, dresser, closet and bookshelf for each student.

Students can make arrangements for telephone or internet service.  Men’s and Women’s washrooms are located in centralized areas on each floor.

Students who live in Frank Grisdale Residence are required to be on a Room and Board Contract with a Residence Food Plan.

Students are issued a food card and can purchase food items on an individual basis at the main cafeteria in Frank Grisdale Residence or at the small food service kiosk in the Land Science building.

If students run out of money on their food plan, they can purchase additional monies on their cards. There are no refunds for any unused monies on the food plan at the end of each semester.

Off-campus Private Accommodation

Many students want to live in their own apartment or with friends. Students must find their own private accommodation (apartment or house). There are many apartments available in Olds. Assistance can be provided for off campus housing through the International Office. The Students Association keeps a list of accommodation which can help you find your own apartment.

Food Services

The main cafeteria features a wide selection of breakfast items, salads, homemade soups, grill items, sub-sandwich bar, pizza, hot entrees, desserts and a wide selection of beverages. Students who live off-campus can pay for items on a cash basis or can purchase a food card. Students who live in Frank Grisdale Hall are required to be on a Residence Food Plan.

Sports and Recreation

A wide variety of intramural, recreation, fitness and intercollegiate sports programs exist. A diverse selection of special events such as dances, concerts, comedy nights, banquets, coffeehouses and off-campus trips are available for students. Students can also access our fitness centre, gymnasium, outdoor soccer, baseball fields and sports equipment.

Clubs

There is a wide selection of clubs at Olds College which are run through the Students’ Association. If you don’t find one to interest you, start your own! Program clubs like the Ag Mech, Fashion, Turf, Land Agent, etc. offer opportunities to get to know your classmates, share industry information or raise funds for special club events.

Health & Wellness Services

Our Health & Wellness Services assists students to maintain their highest level of physical and mental wellness enabling them to succeed academically.

  • Our Registered Nurse works on campus in the Health Services department in the Frank Grisdale Hall Residence.

Learning Centre

The Learning Centre serves students by helping them refresh and develop the study skills required for success in college.
